As we celebrate World Environment Day, here’s ten things that will help save the environment this Halloween.happiest pumpkin

Not just a Jack-o’-lantern 

Don’t let your pumpkin guts go to waste. Save the seeds and bake them for an awesome snack. Use the flesh to make puree or pumpkin juice, or even eat it raw. Check for recipes online. You can also freeze pumpkin and use it later to make sides, pies and other holiday desserts.

Recipe of the Month – May 2019


Today is National Macaroons Day!  Macaroons are the confusing cousin to the French Macaron, oddly pronounced the exact same way. However, these little cookies are dense and typically made of coconut, whereas, French macarons are meringue-based sandwich treats.

Both make great Halloween desserts, but since it is national macaroon day, I’m sharing a delightfully ghoulish recipe from MasterChef Season 6 contestant Hetal, of Milk &Cardamom, as contributed on the So Fab Food website.

Behold, Coconut Lime Macaroon Eyeballs

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp lime zest
  • 3-4 drops green food coloring
  • googly eye candies
  • 1 oz milk chocolate, melted

Friday Fright Nightcaps – Monster Martini

The Monster Martini is how you keep it classy and spooky on Halloween night.

Below is a simple recipe, but I’ve seen different variations, and in particular, different garnishes, that can really bring out theme you’re trying to convey. Don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment a little. Dr. Frankenstein would approve.

Ingredients:

3/4 oz. MIDORI
2 oz. SKYY Citrus
Splash of white cranberry Juice
