Friday Fright Nightcaps: Devilish Mango Margarita

Now, I’m not much into religion, but I’m convinced somebody opened a portal to hell and let all the demons out this year. I’ve had a helluva week and I’m sure you have too. Let’s have magaritas!

Since it’s Halloween season, I wanted an orange margarita, so I put together my own version of the Spicy Mango Margarita. How much bite to add to it depends on you. Do you like it hot and spicy? Or are you more of an angelic type?

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 Ripe Mango (Skin removed, pitted, cut into cubes)
3 ounces Pineapple Juice
1 ounce Lime Juice
3 ounces Triple Sec
3 ounces Tequila
1 tablespoon Grenadine

Rim:
3/4 teaspoon Chili Powder (or Cayenne)
1 1/2 teaspoon Course Salt or Sea Salt

Garnish:
Lime Wedge

I tried a little harder to make the presentation more professional. How did I do? 🙂 Hit me up in the comments section below or find me @HalloweenHaiku9 on Instagram or Twitter

Sinister Saturday: Krampus Approved Christmas Coal Recipe

Earlier this week, I went out Halloween shopping, looking for a few items needed to complete my decorations. Unfortunately, Halloween has already been replaced in the stores by Christmas! What crap is this. Wait your turn, Christmas!

Now, I’m no hater. I’m just pissy and sad the Halloween season is half over. I suppose it’s only fair, I mean, Christmas-loving folks are just trying to get happy like us Halloween fans were trying to do back in July. So, in the spirit of community, I’m willing to compromise, with the help, and permission, from the The Necro-Nom-Nom-Nomicon, I’m by sharing a fangtastic recipe that brings both Christmas and Halloween together with Krampus Approved Christmas Coal. Krampus might not be the sweetest creature stirring but this black-as-night dessert is sinfully spookilicious!

For ingredients list and recipe, please visit www.eatthedead.com

If Christmas insists on encroaching on Halloween’s turf during October, well, then, we’re just gonna have to make the holidays all dreary and fright. How do you feel about it? Let me know in the comments or tag me on social media @HalloweenHaiku9

Have yourself a scary little Christmas and a Happy Halloween!

Fright Fright Nightcaps: Vampire’s Kiss Shots

Happy Friday! Today is National Liqueur Day, and to celebrate, I made my own version of Vampire’s Kiss Shots, using Bailey’s Irish Cream. If you’re a fan of chocolate, Vodka or Irish Cream, this is a dreamy cocktail. Personally, all chocolate style cocktails are my thing. Some people don’t like them cuz they’re too sweet. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, leave out the sugar, add more Vodka and use the chocolate sparingly.

@BaileysIrishCream

INGREDIENTS:

.05-1 oz Vodka
1 oz Irish Cream
Raspberries
Chocolate syrup to garnish the glass
1 tsp Sugar

Here’s the pic of my own version with a couple of alterations, first I don’t own a tall clear shot glass, so, I used a small dessert glass instead. Next, I used strawberries instead of raspberries because raspberries cause allergies in my home and they’re technically banned. I think the recipe turned out great, but obviously didn’t look the same.

Plan to try the recipe, let’s see those pics! Post them in comments are tag me @HalloweenHaiku9 on Instagram or Twitter.

Recipe of Month – August

Last Monday was National S’mores Day, which I missed because I was wallowing over some bad news. S’mores are the perfect camping treat, summer dessert, or comfort food. They say if you ask, the universe will provide, so, imagine how happy I was when I came across Tidymom’s recipe for Chocolate Covered Halloween S’mores on a Stick. Yes, universe, I agree, chocolate dipped Halloween s’mores is a fast, easy and cheap way to soothe our inner child’s tears.
S’mores are a pandemic requirement.

Recipe of the Month – July

One minute I was shuffling around my living room, worried about the current state of the world…

I suppose I could pour my heart and soul out, in another boring, feeble attempt to explain how summer depression disorder works, or, I could blame it on aliens. Lucky for you, I was totally kidnapped by aliens!

I don’t remember a thing, except when I woke up, a strange voice in my head told me to make these amazing Toy Story Alien Popcorn Balls found over at TotallytheBomb.com and binge-watch 5 seasons of CW’s The Originals, so that’s what I did.đź‘˝

Friday Fright Nightcaps

It’s the return of Friday Fright Nightcaps!

Today, in honor of National Pizza Party Day, which no one is celebrating due to the pandemic, my sources tell me that the daiquiri is the perfect companion for heavy pizzas, such as pepperoni, or sausage, or pepperoni and sausage…something about all that cheese and red sauce pairing well with the rum and tart.
So, fire up that old stone oven because I found a fangalicious recipe for a Halloween Daiquiri from the good folks over at Vinepair that won’t wait til Fall.

Recipe of the Month – April

Dead. I’m mostly dead inside, besides a few Frankensteinian moments, brought on either by self-preservation or energy drinks, I’m not sure yet. Point is, the Covid-19 pandemic has made blogging kinda tough lately.  When I realized I missed the deadline to post Recipe of the Month on its scheduled day, I knew I needed to post pronto, with a fitting tribute.  So, where do you put dead things? In a graveyard, of course!  Just so happens, I really love the idea of being buried inside Half Baked Harvest‘s Deathly Chocolate Graveyard Cakes.  Everyone is dying for a good chocolate recipe these days. and this is the one.
Now, if you excuse me, I need to go rewrite my will, again.

Recipe of the Month – February

Today we celebrate Women in Horror, with a tribute to a legendary queen of horror, Sigourney Weaver, star of enduring Alien franchise.

In Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror masterpiece Alien, Sigourney relished the chance to bring a smart, no-nonsense, powerful leader to movie audiences during a time when women yearned to see a strong female presence on the big screen.  Lt. Ellen Ripley proved to be way more than just the final girl, and in the 1986 sequel Aliens, Sigourney continued to portray Ripley, this time as a badass survivor and the voice of reason in this crazy new world.  In her final action-packed showdown with the queen mother of all Xenomorphs, Ripley emerged as one of the greatest female kickass heroes on film, period.

So, in honor of Queen of Sci-fi and of Horror, I found a recipe for Date and Marizpan Alien Xenomorph Eggs over at Feast In Thyme.
